I was born in Cape Verde, Africa, but spent the first 13 years of my life in Portugal. The next half of my life was spent in the United States, which came with its own set of challenges. From overcoming racism to assimilating to a new language and culture, my journey to the US was a difficult one. However, it was during this time that I converted to Islam, and this transformation gave me a new sense of identity and a passion for learning about different cultures.
Despite having no formal training, I purchased a professional camera and began capturing the beauty around me, hoping to share it with the world through words and images.
Fast forward to the present, and I’m now a mother of four living in Egyp. Living in a non-expat area in Egypt has been a unique experience, and I use this blog as a platform to share my daily challenges and experiences as an ex-pat mother.
My hope is that my words and experiences can help others in similar situations feel more connected to a community.
