Quick Update

I can’t believe it has been so long since I last posted any content on this blog. A quick update, for a year now I’ve been living in Egypt. Why, Egypt? Well, first because my husband is Egyptian and all his family resides here. Secondly, I wanted a physical and emotional change from my normal routine back in the States. Needless to say, it has been a roller coaster of physical and emotional feelings. Egypt is completely different than United States and not just because it is an Islamic country. The culture, traditions, lifestyle and even the governance is a huge new concept to rap your head around it, and it takes a lot of time to adjust to it. After a year, I can say now that my homesickness has subsided, however, there are still challenges that I face on a daily basis for being an Expat. So I have decided to share some of my experiences here in this blog in hopes that that it help someone with their move to Egypt, particularly Cairo.

  1. I’ve been here for almost 6 years. I don’t get homesick anymore except for food maybe. I really miss Singaporean food which is very difficult to find or cook here. I stayed in NJ for 5 months (Aug 2016 till Jan 2017) and I missed Egypt so much that I wrote a post on it. ‘Missing you Egypt’. 😊

    1. I read your post. I miss some foods from home too especially certain products I like such coconut oil, milk and water. Azhar park is a gem in the heart of old Cairo, you should defiantly check it out the next time you are here.
